Why You Should Start a Book Rotation for Your Baby
Reading is probably one of the things I was most looking forward to when becoming a parent. So much so that my 9 month old son already has four shelves of books entirely dedicated to him… plus a stack in his room and a small stash in the living room. After several months of aimlessly picking up a book to read over and over again, I decided to be more intentional about how and what I read to him, especially as he was getting closer to speaking. After seeing toy rotations online, I decided to do the same idea with books – a book rotation.
What’s a Book Rotation?
The theory behind a toy rotation is that having too many toy options can be overwhelming to a child. Instead some parents opt to swap out a set amount toys on a weekly basis so the toys stay relatively neat, new, and exciting. After looking at the mountain of books by his bed, I felt that the same could be said for books.
In addition to adding organization to our books, reading a set amount of books repetitively can have benefits for the baby as well.
