Sparking Innovation: Summer Circuits Day Camp at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center

This summer, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center is rolling out a brand new, electrifying opportunity for young minds: the Summer Circuits Day Camp! If your child is fascinated by how things work, loves to build, or dreams of a future in tech, this dynamic, weeklong, half-day program is their perfect launchpad into the exciting worlds of robotics, coding, and electrical engineering.
Located within the all-new Space Works: A Makers Lab at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Summer Circuits Day Camp isn’t just about learning; it’s about hands-on discovery and the thrill of creation. Designed to ignite curiosity and foster essential STEM skills, this camp offers a unique chance for rising engineers and scientists to get practical experience with the very technologies shaping our future.
The program is tailored for two distinct age groups to ensure every camper receives age-appropriate challenges and a truly enriching experience:
- Rising 3rd through 5th grade students
- Rising 6th through 7th grade students

The core curriculum of the Summer Circuits Day Camp is built around engaging, interactive activities that make complex concepts accessible and fun. Here’s a glimpse of what young innovators will explore:
- Robotics Unveiled: Campers will receive a comprehensive introduction to the fascinating world of robotics, understanding how these incredible machines operate and, more importantly, how to control them. Imagine the excitement as they bring their own robots to life!
- Coding Demystified: Our instructors will guide campers through basic coding concepts, empowering them to translate their ideas into tangible actions. From simple commands to problem-solving algorithms, they’ll learn the language of technology.
- Electrical Circuits Explored: Students will gain a foundational understanding of the flow of energy, how circuits power our world, and even get to build some
simple circuits themselves. - 3D Printing – The Future is Now: Providing a glimpse into the future of manufacturing and design, campers will explore the revolutionary field of 3D printing.

What truly sets the Summer Circuits Day Camp apart is its integration with the U.S. Space & Rocket Center Museum. Learning isn’t confined to the lab! Daily “mini-field trips” will take students to various exhibits and artifacts, linking their hands-on projects to real-world applications and historical significance. Imagine building a circuit and then seeing its vital role in space exploration!
A highlight that will undoubtedly inspire awe in every camper is a breathtaking tour of the universe in the INTUITIVE® Planetarium. This immersive experience will transport students across the cosmos, showcasing the wonders of our solar system and beyond. It’s an opportunity to connect their understanding of technology with the grand scale of scientific discovery, fostering a sense of wonder and igniting future pursuits in space and science.
The culmination of the week’s learning arrives on Friday, a day dedicated to showcasing newfound skills and celebrating progress. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their programming prowess on a specially designed robotics challenge course. This competition isn’t just about winning; it’s about applying coding knowledge in a practical, problem-solving scenario, fostering teamwork, critical thinking, and the joy of seeing their efforts come to life in a fun, interactive way.
- Daily Schedule: Drop-off begins each day at 8:30 a.m. at the Rocket Center Ticket Desk, with programming starting promptly at 9:00 a.m. The half-day sessions conclude at noon, with sign-out and pickup available between noon and 12:15 p.m. at the same location.
